BPI Real Estate Poland and Revive to join forces to develop a 5.5 ha plot in Poznań

BPI Real Estate Poland and Revive intend to join forces on the Poznań real estate market. The two Belgian developers plan to conduct a multi-stage investment to develop a 5.5 ha plot located in the very heart of Poznań. This multi-faceted project spans residential, service and office functions, and will entail revitalizing historic buildings that previously served as military barracks. On September 29 of this year a notarial deed was signed to finalize the purchase of land from Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie (MTP) for PLN 114.5 million. Poznań Mayor, Jacek Jaśkowiak was in attendance at the signing. This project will be one of the largest investments in BPI Real Estate Poland’s portfolio and the second investment in the capital city of the Greater Poland Region (Wielopolska) following the construction of the environmentally-friendly Vilda Park estate.

BPI Real Estate Poland and Revive, Belgian property developers intend to establish a joint-venture to execute this multi-purpose investment project in former military barracks in Poznań.

“This transaction is very important to the residents of the Łazarz District of Poznań. First, it will lead to converting land previously used for storage into a highly attractive residential area in Poznań. Second, by selling this property MTP will obtain the funds needed to renovate the Arena, one of the most important and iconic venues in the district”, remarks Poznań Mayor, Jacek Jaśkowiak

“Poznań is a very important city on the investment map of BPI Real Estate Poland and our entire Group. This year we finished building the environmentally-friendly Vilda Park estate in the Wilda District of Poznań. This was our very first project in Poznań and our sixth project in Poland. It also forms part of our seventh project. The success this project has enjoyed compelled us to run another project in Poznań. There is no doubt that the size of the plot we have purchased from MTP is very impressive, making it one of the largest investments in BPI Real Estate’s overall portfolio. This ambitious project offers enormous potential. We intend to cooperate with Revive, a seasoned partner. We plan to blend several functions in a single project while also revitalizing the historic buildings in which the military barracks were once located. Our innovative and well-thought-out design employing environmentally-friendly solutions will be attractive for many generations to come. We have a lot of work ahead of us to present a more detailed plan of our new investment project”, stated Béranger Dumont, General Manager of BPI Real Estate Poland

The concept underlying this investment refers to our company’s mission statement of breathing new life into neglected and unused urban areas. In Belgium, we have accumulated extensive experience in revitalization projects and we plan to tap into that experience in Poland. We see Poland’s great potential. This investment in Poznań is not our first project on the Polish real estate market. We are also involved in redeveloping the Imperial Shipyard in Gdańsk, where approximately 3,500 apartments will be built”, comments Alexandre Huyghe, CEO of Revive.

The plot purchased from MTP is located between Matejki, Grunwaldzka and Ułańska streets in Poznań. It has an excellent location, a mere 2 km from the city center of Poznań and a 10-minute walk from the Central Train Station. This plot is currently used as a parking lot with abandoned buildings previously used as military barracks. The land development plan approved by the Poznań City Council in September 2019 calls for the construction of residential and service buildings and pedestrian and bicycle paths. The original design contemplates a combination of residential, service and office functions. As an “Urban Shaper” BPI Real Estate focuses on actively shaping modern urban spaces and pays great attention to the planning stage of each investment. These two investors will start doing their design work in the near future during which they will verify that their design is compliant with the applicable local zoning plan.

“We are elated that BPI Real Estate Poland has bought this plot from the MTP Group because it is an international and highly experienced property developer. Its investments are innovative and comply with the principles of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and care for the environment. I am confident that the work done by this investor will create not only architecturally attractive space in Poznań, but also a friendly and harmonious location for its inhabitants”, said Tomasz Kobierski, President of the Management Board of the MTP Group.

In line with its business strategy BPI Real Estate Poland plans to conduct more investments in Poland and in Poznań, too. Revive chose this location because of the enormous potential inherent in Poznań, one of the most interesting and fastest growing residential real estate markets in Poland.

So far, BPI Real Estate Poland has completed the Vilda Park investment located in the Wilda District in the vicinity of the Warta River in the capital city of Wielkopolska. This year the developer completed the construction of a total of four investments containing nearly 730 apartments handed over in the following projects: Vilda Park in Poznań, Bulwary Książęce in Wrocław and Rezydencja Barska and wolaRE in Warsaw.
